Front Door for Families provides guidance to Mendocino County families with children who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. We help Mendocino County families identify housing options in Mendocino County and develop a housing sustainability plan.

Our housing guides assist with identifying solutions that address barriers to stable housing. We encourage clients to explore safe permanent or temporary housing options and connect to natural supports and community services.

We seek to prevent or quickly resolve homelessness using creative solutions. We engage families in exploratory problem-solving conversations to understand their strengths and existing support networks.

Our goal is to make family homelessness brief and rare.

Front Door for Families is a project of the Mendocino County Social Services department, and is funded by a Family Homelessness Challenge grant from the California Interagency Council on Homelessness (Cal ICH), the State of California Bringing Families Home program, and the California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) program.

Our vision is to create a community of safe and independent families and individuals.

Our mission is to strengthen and empower individuals and families to achieve sustainable and safe housing to improve their quality of life.
